Clash Of The Titans

Author’s note: It was the post By Maria Sultan on Aug 17th, 2009 under the title “7000 American Marines in Islamabad ???” that prompted me to write this article.

Where It All Began And The Previous Attempts:

Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities has always been a cause of major concern for the Western countries, particularly the USA. And there have been previous attempts to defang Pakistan. The last one being Benazir Bhutto’s commitment to roll back the Nuclear program, in return for backing while dealing with General Musharraf in 2006-07. Not to mention the roll back when she was the Prime Minister. These were the attempts to wind up the program the legal way. Almighty Allah had other plans and Benazir was shot dead in broad daylight.

The Round Begins:

Every search for a hero must begin with something which every hero requires, a villain.

To Invade Iraq USA had made up the excuse of the WMDs, of which no traces have been found up till today. To invade Pakistan a more valid reason,  something that could not be disputed. So a new force of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was formed to slowly take over Pak territory, until a point where it would be imminent that the Nuclear Weapons would fall in TTP- an Islamic fanatic organization-s’ hands. A very good reason to strike and take out and destroy the Pakistan Nuclear Assets and the finish off the capability for further development in the Nuclear field.

The Great Gamble:

The Pakistan Army was underestimated, and it was thought that after the initial onslaught slowly the security forces would be defeated and demoralized, giving up and allowing the TTP to reach Islamabad.

The Army Chief General Kiyani, then took a gamble. It might be seen as a gamble but it was the right decision, the best in the interest of the Pakistan. If his gamble failed Pakistan was doomed, but had he not taken the decision the result would not have been any different.

Pakistani Special Service Group (SSG) -the actual strength is classified- but it is wildly believed that there are 2 Brigades of Special Forces . According to Indian analyst, Mandeep Singh Bajwa, the SSG “are formidable opponents and easily rank as one of the finest special forces in the world.

A Dose OF Their Own Medicine:

Gen Kiyani, put both the Brigades into action in Swat, who did a good job to defend Pakistan.  The SSG soldiers infiltrated the  TTP networks and took out key TTP commanders by carrying out suicide bombing. According to the rough estimates-actual figures are hard to confirm- the casualties suffered by SSG are between 30 to 40 %,. This may seem high but the fruit of these martyrs are in front of us as Pak Army has nearly defeated the TTP. Any amount of praise would be inadequate to laud their sacrifices.

A Pawn named Baitullah Meshud:

Baitullah Meshud was mearly a pawn acting on his pay master’s whims i.e is to fight the proxy war. The success of Pak Army in wiping out the TTP led to a point where it was only a matter of time before Baitullah Meshud would have been captured. His capture would have been a blow to the CIA as he could have revealed vital information about his links and his modus operandi . Already arms caches of US made weapons have been found but they are not being made public. Therefore CIA took the easiest way out and eliminated him. CIA has the most advanced surveillance and monitoring system in the world. A precision, with which CIA can track the movements of an ant moving any where in the world. It is very hard to believe that CIA were unable to find him before.

The Present Situation And The Arrival Of US Marines:

President Zardari in his greed for money, is agreeing to everything and anything in return for USaid. As a result of which he as agreed to deploy the US Marines in Pakistan i.e Islamabad. Although the number is not as high as 7000, it is between 1000-2000. These are enough. They will have their weapons and APCs and they will be on stand by.

These Marines can take over the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL)at a moment’s notice. KRL is the site of Pakistan’s main nuclear weapons laboratory as well as an emerging centre for long-range missile development. The primary Pakistani fissile-material production facility is located at Kahuta, employing gas centrifuge enrichment technology to produce Highly Enriched Uranium [HEU]. Islamabad is the best location as it is at a stone’s throw from the KRL.

The Two Options:

Gen Kiyani is reportedly fed up with our President Mr. dry-clean-via-NRO Zardari. Firstly because of his doormat-welcome-to-all attitude i.e. giving into every demand by USA in return for aid, and Mr. Zardari’s trademark habbit: corruption.  And Zardari’s decision to allow the US marines in Pakistan also did not go down too well with the General.
The General is currently not in the favour of having excessive US troops in Pakstan. The law puts him under the elected head of state, and binds him to obey the head of state. This has made it impossible for the General to disagree or to speak out.

One option was to oust him from power by a military coup. That was the easy one. Gen Kiyani being wise enough did not take that route as it would not have a positive effect on the country he and his army is defending. A coup would only had caused further destablization, and diverted the army resources and attention from the war in FATA So he left Zaradri to meet his natural fate.

The Nature Takes Its Course:

Once Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudary (IMC) and his team was restored, they resumed from where they left. Guess whose phone call convinced reluctant Zardari to restore the judges on the night of the long march ? IMC is now slowly moving to declare the NRO null and void. When NRO is consigned to dustbin, it would make Zardari ineligible to hold the office of the President.

The Collateral Damage:

During this, the case of General Musharraf’s second emergency and his mistreatment of the senior judges is also in line for hearing. If he gets punished, no one will bother to shed a tear for him, as Gen Musharraf would be considered as the collateral damage. In the present scenario Gen Musharraf has become the “excess baggage” no one is willing to claim .  No one cares about the collateral damage or a “spent cartridge” as one of my friends at this forum called him (Musharraf) .

Just For Thought:

A trailer of the next Game , in the pipeline. The new complex of the United States Consulate General  in Karachi is scheduled for completion in June 2010, it will have an area of a whopping 20.5-acre . The Green Zone in Iraqi Capital-where the US Army had its base and controled its operations in Iraq- is smaller than the Consulate General  of Karachi. What could be need for such a huge Consulate General ?

Can anyone guess what that will be used for?

Hint: CIA Control Room and the funding/assistance of separatist movement in Sindh.

The Clash Of The Titans:

Now only Allah and Army Stand Between America and Pakistan.

  1. You are just one of those who Zaheeruddin has defined in his post (The sinners of Gojra - TPS) today as “gullible” zombies with a thought processes guided by “conspiracy theories” that the media peddles and nourished by the “vile perceptions of the mullahs.” - Too bad for Pakistan and Pakistanis that your kind is eating away its roots. Shame on your this attempt at doing propaganda of hatred against friends of Pakistan and its people.

  2. Dear Muhammad Ali Sajjad:

Very good article,it all makes sense if one has any. Keep on writing and dont bother the “criticism” as Iqbal Said:

“Agarchay but hain Jamat Ki Aasteenoun mein
Mujhay hay Hukm-e-Azan La ILa Ha ILLALLAH”

  3. Dear kashif and Aftab,
You have NOT answered the question raised here.
1.Is it realy true that a very vast consulate is being built in Karachi?
2.Is it realy true nearly 2000 marines have landed here.?
Let us not speculate on other issues.

  4. Dear Aftab,

    “conspiracy theories”?

Please explain what are you refering to?

A US State Department document had said that the US government was setting up a Marine House in Islamabad at a cost of $112.5 million to accommodate about 1,000 Marines.

The US ambassador to Pakistan had also confirmed that the Marine House was being built.

Yet you choose to believe the Government spokesman-a government whose head is a proven thief and a liar- denying that there are will be no US marines in Pakistan……..

do your beliefs make me a “gullible” zombie”?

The “friends of Pakistan” you are defending, I take it that you are talking about the USA.

Henry Kissinger once said “Its dangerous to be USA’s enemy and its even more dangerous its friend”

Aftab, Please make your pick, if its better to be a friend or an enemy (of US)?
the list is too long, i’ll just point out the most obvious, and that is US has never supported democracy in Pakistan, her support for Dictators in Pakistan is there for everyone to see. Does the support of dicators make her our friend?

I can see the double standards of US, I can see the truth and what is happening, does that make me a “conspiracy theorist”?

Tell me Aftab, is it a shamefull act not to believe the official reports by the our Pakistani government which has no credibility at all and identify our friends and foes myself?

Keep on believing what your master USA and its pet the Pakistan Government tells you, perhaps for your oblivion, you might be rewarded with a green card at the best, or the lowest you might be made a minister in Pakistan , as PPP needs people who can conveniently close their eyes and persuade others to follow the same.

    Best Regards

  5. Yes they are constructing their Consulate General in a large complex. Why is it a problem - I have seen such huge complexes in some of the most advanced countries such as Germany and Japan.

As far as posting of marines is concerned, it’s pure speculation. Though it would just be fine to have their presence here. Remember, their presence in Japan, South Korea, Germany, UK, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Muskat (and and and) and all these countries are closest allies of the US. Why not here; everytime we need help they come forward when everyone else looks the other way. Their presence here would also helpp our friends in India to stay friends.

  6. I wish it’s this simple! There you go with ‘Green Card’ and all such petty notions - suffice it to say that I am a Pakistani by choice!!!!!

Having said the above, let me just this bit one more time I am a political realist and I do not believe or expect any angels from heavens or any other lands of the pure come to help us when it is needed. For me survival is more important than any dogmas any religious affinities. For me Pakistan and Pakistanis are the first, the last and in between - this is my politics, it has always been so and will remain ditto.

  7. Dear Johann,

    Hello,

Regarding the first question, the construction of the huge complex in Karachi for the “United States Consulate General ” was started by Anne Patterson herself, but as it was bound to attact attention, the matter was kept low profile. If still not convinced I will try to find an authentic source to confirm this.

The second question, you have raised, has been confirmed by the US ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson and the US State Department.

Its only the Pak Government that is denying this. The Government expects us the people to believe everything they say.

    Best Regards

  8. It is good so! Every paan wala must not make it his business to interfere with affairs of the state. Go and stitch some T-shirts and Underpants for exports make sure that the quality is as per contract. This might some day make you a little independent. Go to the garment factory and make good garments.

The people, Sajjad’s point of reference and inspiration, are reactionary and have for leadership such numb skulls like Imran Khan, Qazi Husain Ahmad and all such supporters of talibans with reverse -gair on and high speed back to the ’shortest cut to heavens’.

  9. Dear Aftab,

In # 5 “Why not here; everytime we need help they come forward when everyone else looks the other way.”

In # 6 “I do not believe or expect any angels from heavens or any other lands of the pure come to help us when it is needed.”

The two statements clearly show who is confused and having difficulty in deciding where to look for next help.

Aftab this only happens when one is unsure that who is a friend and who is a foe.

Further in # 8 you have said “Every paan wala must not make it his business to interfere with affairs of the state. ”

Aftab, it is your country, you and every paan wala has full right to know what is being done in their country. This is your right. You are so depressed that you have given up your basic rights, made your self a slave and completely left your self at the mercy of US Government. They will not have mercy on you.

Last not least you seem to have run out of answers , therefore you are at one point telling me how to spend my time, and then accusing me of being a taliban follower.

I need not explain any more Aftab, your own statements are enough to show that whose mental state is in a disarray.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery,

    Best Regards

  10. A paan wala must make good paan and a garment worker must strive hard to make good garments and I think it’s a perfectly legitimate expectations and it holds for you as well if that’s what your vocation happens to be. Whether or not you are a ‘Taliban’ or their follower does not bother me since you are utterly irrelevant and inconsequent even if you are inspired by their apologists nay propagandists. If my statements above confused you, tough luck, I never claimed to be a primary school teacher for adults. Read again or get someone to explain - it is all there. As far as my sense of self-enslavement is concerned. O’ I have no doubts in my mind, yes, indeed I do want to ensure survival of my people at any cost; for me self-preservation is first and foremost. Yes, I do prefer better relations over confrontations with the sole super power in a unipolar world. Yes, I am not as brave as you and do not wish to fight a useless war with other people’s blood; no I don’t want to sacrifice any Pakistani life for any dogmas.

  11. Well all this is on the basis of the News Circulating—and it was not about speculation—-that Friends Of Pakistan Thing was really hilarious—a few more of these “So Called” friends and Pakistan is really going to “Progress”

Mullah bashing is so out of fashion now Mr.Alam—think about “Moolah” now—Hope you understand.

  12. See, that’s what I meant - go and think about “Moolah” and also think about your insatiable hunger that this your “Moolah” can satisfy. While at it, think about, no leave it - just forget it. Too much of thinking will strain your brain.

  13. Aftab My Dear,

Believe and “want” what you like , you may want better relations, but the sole super power has other ideas.

“self-preservation ” might be your first goal but your are looking for it in the wrong place- the friendship with our biggest enemy the USA.

No, your statements are not confusing at all, they perfectly show your state of mind.Your psychiatrist must be a happy man.

But you are right when you say “is all there”, Aftab, its up to you now, either open your eyes and face the facts or close them and dream in your comfort zone.

    Best Reagards

  14. ‘Not so’ dear Sajjad! what’s the point in arguing any further. I’ll let time prove you wrong. Sure I hope my psychiatrist to be a happy man, I pay him well enough to read and analyse and interpret the state of your mental pathology by seeing all such nonsense what you guys are capable of producing. I do not depend on any ‘kala’ or white ‘jadoo’ or ‘maulbis’ for any taveez as you and your self-chosen ‘beacons of light’ do.

By the way I liked just this one sentence in whole of your article above, ” Every search for a hero must begin with something which every hero requires, a villain.” - now, whose is this originally? Help me recall where did I read it before - I mean it’s not yours and as usual you forgot to give any credits to anyone!

  15. Dear Aftab,

    “‘Not so’ dear Sajjad! ??”

now you are breaking my heart,

By the way , you may not depend on balck magic but you do depend on the US.

A paan wala’s paan may make him independent one day but your friend US would never want us Pakistanis become independent.

Why wait for time to prove, you have got a whole 6 decades of our history, search it and prove me wrong.

Or you still want more time? are 60 years not enough? or you expect me to wait for an eternity?

    Best Regards

  16. Muhammad Ali Sajjad,

You mentioned that the government wants people every word they say, which of course many people don’t. But you guys do agree and accept every word that your army says, don’t you?

  17. History - easy as a word, but not so easy subject to learn anything from, is it? Go and read it. Since you so reverently quoted what Henry Kissinger thinks or supposedly have warned you ‘personally’, read him with reference to Bangladesh conflict, India’s role and our vulnerability. Refresh your memory about Russian designs about us through Afghanistan 1979. Yes, I do depend on US to help us from descending into the quagmire of a ‘voodistan’ - and by the way I am not alone in this, luckily there are many who do not believe and wait for direct intervention from any ‘holy powers’ to come down and provide the billions that we need right now to sustain.

Are you going to tell me where you got this from, ” Every search for a hero must begin with something which every hero requires, a villain.” ? As Arias you quoted Medona, who is this one ? Must I look upto the same source instead of any books. Tell me it’s from some Hollywood movie - which one?

  18. Dear Aftab,

    “Russian designs about us ”

Ever heard about the cold war? (i’ll give you a hint : it wasnt a war fought in winter), who were the two major players? Dont tell me you are also unaware of what happened in the 1980’s ! If you are then just say.

Call me pann wala garment wala, Arias Medona or M. Jackson even calling me FDR wont help you, you are trying to divert the real issue, if you are so helpless and with out a reason or answer and still want to defend your friend the USA, then simply close your eyes and dream in your comfort zone, and do put the “Do Not Disturb” on your door.

I believe the 60 years are not enough for you , is this why you are asking for more time on the behalf of your master USA, so it can prove her worth as a true friend? Keep waiting forever. You dont have the patience to tolerate anyone who disagrees with your master, how would find patience to wait for even a day?

The only reason to quote the line -which has become a bone in your neck- was to explain the need for a valid reason was required to invade Pakistan. .

As far as the source of the line is concerned, if you lose your sleep over it , just copy past the line on google and search.

I trust you can do a simple job like this , please dont tell me that you are so pathetic and unable to do it, if that is the case ask your friend the USA to help you out. After all you have so much faith in them. This is the least your friends can do for you.

    Regards

  19. its really a thought provoking article good job sir

  20. Dear Speak Free,

What has the army said? other than giving the body count of the TTP?

    Best Regards
