Chrome OS pre-beta available
By Bilal Sulehri • Nov 21st, 2009 • Category: Technology • 3 CommentsThe launching of much awaited Chrome OS is still some time away. But gdgt.com has compiled a download-able Chrome OS.

After Google announced the availability of the Chrome OS / Chromium OS source code, one of engineers (Jon Ursenbach) at gdgt.com, immediately got to work on compiling the code, trying to see if he could get an instance of Chromium OS running in a virtual machine.
He was finally able to do it!

I have installed Chrome OS on one of my netbooks and the performance of Chrome OS is just okay. there is nothing fancy or very special about it. It was just a sort of GUI version of linux or something.
.
Chrome OS is just another rebranded Linux GUI, it would be much better if Google came up with an OS that would directly compete with Windows.
