Charms strike the sight, but merit wins the soul

Before current one day series against Australia, we had played 3 matches one day series against New Zealand.
Suppose to be players who played well in last one day series should be given chance in this current one day series.
You can see how we do injustice and unfair treatment with some players.

This time is with Khalid Latif.

I compared Khalid Latif with two other permanent player of our team in last two series.

First One day comparison:

Khalid Latif  64
Umar Akmal 9

Shoaib Malik did not play.

2nd One day comparison

Khalid Latif  45
Umar Akmal  4
Shoaib Malik 26

Third One day comparison

http://www.crichotline.com/pakistan-vs-new-zealand-3rd-odi-2009-scorecard-abu-dhabi/

Khalid Latif  19
Shoaib Malik 11
Umar Akmal  12

Now in first two one days against Australia Umar Akmal & Shoaib Malik performance is as below.
Khalid Latif has not be given chance in this series yet.

Shoaib Malik 28
Umar Akmal  23

Shoaib Malik 2, in 4 overs Malik did not get any wicket and cost 17 runs.
4 overs 17 runs not wicket.
Umar Akmal  0

Who should be in on performance, You decided?
Captain and Coach should tell media their criteria for to select playing eleven.

This kind of selection is not happening first time .
PURCHI system is become part of our culture.
After dropping several catches Kamran Akmal can keep their slot in the team.
This type of treatment effects player confidence and team results.
Once in a gloom, chosen players will perform because of continuous support by Captain/Selection Committee/management regardless of their performance
on other hand players who will be treated unfairly could perform bad because of unfair treatment.

Here is one example how they give chance to deserving players.

Khalid Latif is a opener, He is doing very good with bat for many years.
He led Pakistan in the wining under 19 wc.
He performed very well for Pakistan ‘A’ academy .
In past he had been called for Pakistan team after he scored brilliant century for Pakistan ‘A’ .
On his first ODI appearance captain Malik sent him on number seven position when only two overs were left.
No one remember what batting order he had been sent out but his score had been recorded.
What do you expect any opener to score in four or five balls.
After his first one day appearance they kept him out from the team for some time,
recently he came back after his good performance in domestic.
And credit goes to ex captain Younis Khan who gave proper chances to some young players.

We need to implement merit system.
Whoever performed well in our domestic cricket must be given chance to play for national team.
We should include best batsman and best bowler of Quaid-e-Azam trophy in our national team.
This is happening in Australia, whoever performed well is given a proper chance for their national team.

  1. Good letter Dawar.
Unfortunately, since Ayub Khan dictatorship we have never seen merit in our system. What is happeing in cricket its representing corruption in our country. This is danger than bomb blasts. This is killing our country. We need to stop corruption in any cost before its too late.
