Challenges in Pakistani War on Terror
By Sher Ali • May 20th, 2009 • Category: Politics • One ResponseNo doubt that the military operation Rah-e-Haq 4 has been going on with huge sucesss, there is also no denying that a gigantic human crisis is getting worst in the NWFP, as nearly 2 million people have become internally displaced people. While military leadership should focus on completing the opeation as soon as possible, the civilian government should ensure every possible facility to the suffering people in more than 20 camps of the NWFP.
Militarily, we will win the war, but it will be unfortunate if we lose it politically, so we will also have to win the hearts and minds of the people. That should be the mantra which should be ingrained in every political stalwart. Merely calling the all parties conference, and in-camera briefing and issuing statements is not going to ease the sufferings of the people. MNAs, MPAs and the leaders of political parties should reach out and work with the NGOs and welfare organization to help out the people.
One cannot sress more that right now our challengs are the need for boosting the morale of the Army as well as a comprehensive relief strategy for the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
