Blogging in Pakistan and the next Challenge
By Ghazala Khan • Apr 29th, 2009 • Category: Politics • One ResponseBlogging isn’t in jeopardy and it’s not going to prove yet another fad about to expire and vanish in the contours of online world and slip away like a funny dream aimed at virtually nothing and perishing prior jelling to its promised potential. In actual, it’s just in another transition to a new and better place.
Blogging and Bloggers in Pakistan has actually come a long way. They have not only introduced this new media in the country where reading and writing offline has declined and people are not really aware of doing the same thing online. These stalwarts of the new media has enabled the country’s online frontiers to be marked by the world and now when the world wants to know about Pakistan, their first choices include the blogs of Pakistan.
But Pakistani blogosphere needs more and more attention from the common public. And as long as the public puts a premium on quality information and analysis — and the public always will, once they come to know about this new media — blogging will thrive. So now bloggers of Pakistan have this onus upon themselves to not only blog, but also to make common public aware of thier blogs.

Ghazala Khan, I agree with you the ‘blogosphere’ isn’t going anywhere. However, in order to get more “attention from the common people” you need to make it possible for more & more ordinary people to have access to education (which in turn inculcates more awareness & ability to see the difference between right & wrong as well as the appreciation of a free & democratic society!). Without decent basic education how can anyone possibly benefit from any ‘blog’ or ‘bloggers’ ?
I like your ‘mantra’ - Democracy, Democracy, Democracy. Let me just add democracy must mean: Roti, Kapda, Makan as well as EDUCATION!
