Blindness in Pakistan

By Muskan Hina • Feb 1st, 2010 • Category: Misc • No Responses

One thing is pretty much clear that the prevention and control of blindness is not the topmost priority of the goverment among other health issues. It seems that there is no health ministry in Pakistan or if there is any, then there is no impact of that on the national horizon and the blindness is no exception.

There must be a National Glaucoma Awareness Campaign, and not the sham campaigns which are run by the government for the photp sessions and to fill the bellies of the newspapers.

It is the need of hour for the present government to realise the targets set in the Vision-2020 initiated by the World Health Organisation to ensure a world free from blindness by 2020.

But they are too busy to fight off the NRO.
