Saleem Bhai, what a great and timely advice ! Only if one would verify a news (rumour) before passing on to others, many political lies and evil designs can be contained and we can prevent a total breakdown of our system. We have been too long at it (in ‘our’ frenzy to destroy just one man), and it’s, perhaps, still not too late , to learn finally, to refrain from rumormongering. Thank you. You have done a great service by bringing this useful article / reportage. I wish that somehow this could be communicated all those ‘jokers’ we have for ‘reporters’ of the so called free media (the news manufacturers and distributors of disinformation who have created fear and confusion in the minds of the ordinary citizen in the land).
Aftab Bhai,
thanks for your appreciation. You are 110% right that such rumours are creating real problem in the society. Alas, our media is not taking any responsibility and spreading real tension among us. You will find 60 breaking News and 120 Flash News in an hour, if you are sitting in front of GEO News. People are becoming psychological patients and creeping toward torture and crimes.
We must raise voice against them. Don’t know, our society is now addicted of Mirchi kind of news. Either it is related to relatives, neighbours or country. Most of our citizen gets bore that why there is no Masalay-dar news coming from politics etc etc. You can see the taste of people by analysing data of SMS/CALLS sent after any news. Millions and Millions of SMS travels in seconds, when people comes to know some thing special (regardless of its truth). I don’t think that Americans even shared so many SMS after 9/11 incident. We are wasting our energies in worng directions and this practices is getting solid day by day.
May Allah guide us on right direction. Ameen.
Saleem Bhai, you are so very right that people are becoming psychological patients. It is true, just look at one recent example of what terrible goals can be achieved through this medium. Through this ‘talk show’ “Aalim on-line” I think it is called. This, God damned, TV show penetartes the privacy of our homes with a bunch of so called ‘religious scholars’ and in the name of intellectual discourse they declare the ‘Ahmadis’ as ‘Wajib-ul-Qatl’ - we all know how people reacted in some areas - three perfectly normal citizens of Pakistan got murdered simply because of their faith. See, I consider this a preplanned manipulation of the populace and for me this appears to be just an experiment. I shudder to think about the day when some such idiot ‘aalim’ or not is going to conduct some kind of frenzy loaded program and after creating maximum fear and confusion would give us direction as to who our enemies (’our’ could be anyone or group) are and how they threaten our existance. Message might or might not be in so many words, but subliminal message can be - go after Saleem Khan or Aftab - Punjabis - Pathans - Sindhis - Mohajirs - Sunnis - Shias - anyone who is other than us.
Imagine the anxiety created by this constant flow of enormous number of ‘breaking news’ and ‘Flash News’, it’s just too much for a normal brain to cope with. It creates confusion and anxiety and it’s addictive with great adverse effects. You are right the thinking people must oppose this trend and must try to raise this point with as much force as possible within the legal limits - which is write about it, talk about it, and protest whenever possible, ideally through the same medium infront of the viewers.
These are the issues that we must engage ourselves into rather than……. you know what I mean.
