Biased MQM and Media
By Zafir Zia • Apr 9th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 9 CommentsA lot of hue and cry has been made by the media in general and MQM in particular on an incident (Swat flogging incident) which have not been confirmed and verified. In my view this has all been done under a well planned conspiracy in an attempt to malign and tarnish the image of Islam and Pakistan as well as to sabotage the peace process of Swat. Some domestic forces have tried to highlight this incident without checking the authenticity and reliability of the video, hence having ulterior motives.
All concerned authorities including the NWFP information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Commissioner Malakand division Syed Mohammed Javed and the Taliban representative of Swat have categorically denied that NO such incident too place.
After the airing of the videotape on television channels on April 3 hundreds of people in various newspapers have so far written against the Taliban and their version of Islam without even conceiving the reliability of the videotape.
MQM has shown great concern over the public lashing incident in Swat and have severely criticized the Taliban and the Swat peace accord. MQM which has always been the self acclaimed champion of women empowerment must not forget the brutal acts committed by them against women in the past. A UC nazim of MQM Salman Baloch
(UC 8 Baldia Town) was photographed beating a female opposition member during the city council session with his belt in Karachi. Furthermore an incident that took place outside the Karachi press club on 12th March 2008 immensely portrays MQMs true colour. A group of women belonging to MQM Haqiqi who came to the KPC for a protest demonstration were severely beaten and manhandled by MQM activists. The entire electronic media kept a mum over entire incident and due to their silence the issue fizzled out soon. There were no articles by journalists, no TV shows by anchors and no letters by the nation condemning MQM for thrashing women associated with MQM Haqiqi. It seems that the both the print and electronic media has succumbed to the MQM pressure and that is why nothing that reveals atrocities committed by MQM is either revealed, published or televised.
The media has been the only revelation over the past few years and the people of Pakistan consider it to be its sole representative. The media must maintain an unbiased role in exposing malpractices, crimes & scams whether committed by politicians, lawyers, bureaucrats, army or anyone else.

The Video is NOT FAKE as the incident was confirmed by Talibans and NWFP gov themselves but after the people start protesting against it they changed their stance and start calling it FAKE.
Newspapers of 4th april 2009 is littered with Talibans statements statements confirming the incident.
First they tried to make it an Islamic Punishment and when failed they changed their stance and start calling the video as FAKE.

we have many times cleared you that dont mingle urdu speaking group with your run away leader and try to give ethnic colour to your obvious weaknesses in your party.I myself know and have very friendly relation with altaf hussains first cousins living in north nizmabad and PIB colony.these people never want to vote to mqm for its hooliganism acts in karachi and even his cousins of maternal side feel lot of ashamed of his relation with them.
