Beware !!! CNG Kits in Motorcycles are a Life Threat
By Muskan Hina • Aug 13th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 4 CommentsThough there isn’t much difference remains now in the prices of petrol and the compressed natural gas (CNG), still the tight budgets force people to save money where it is possible. CNG being less expensive is the fuel of choice for the vehicles, especially the smaller ones.
Plethora of domestically assembled CNG kits are available in Pakistan for the bikes. But they haven’t followed any standard and have been manufactured without any license or safety checks. These hazardous kits have already become the reason of some sad and tragic accidents at CNG stations and during the bike riding. General public should not convert or purchase such kits as its a potential threat.
OGRA has very timely banned such kits. The Authority has asked all CNG station operators, licensees and CNG users to not allow the use of CNG in motorcycles due to reasons of public safety. It is also not covered under the existing Pakistan CNG Rules 1992/Standard Code of Practice and it is an illegal activity.
