Benazir Loyalists Versus Zardari Loyalists

By Rohail Butt • Jan 20th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 6 Comments

At last the compassion vote to the Zardari is wearing out which he got after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and the rifts are appearing from within the party and outside. A new faction from from the central executive committee of PPP has started raising it’s voice about the fact that not enough is being done for the party workers, for the people who sacrificed and PPP has been playing in the hands of those who brokered the deal between dictator and the Benazir and then as Benazir refuted that deal to promote democracy she was assassinated.

At a seminar held to mark the 81st birth anniversary of the founder of the party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Aitzaz Ahsan and Naheed Khan spoke bitterly about the current party leadership and they slammed the way Zardari was handling the affairs. They also noted down the disinterest of the Zardari and his acolytes about apprehending and bringing to justice the assassins of Benazir Bhutto, especially when Zardari had claimed that he knew them. Many present in Naudero for the death anniversary of Benazir noticed the division within the PPP hardening.

The real threat which PPP is not understanding is not really coming from Naheed Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan and Safdar Abbasi. It is coming from the weakening of the Sindhi powerbase of PPP. Mumtaz Bhutto who was no one has suddenly become a popular leader of interior Sindh, just because Zardari took a swing at him and arrested him. The way Zardari has gathered all the non-elected people from party like Rehman Malik, Mohammad Ali Durrani, Sherry Rehman, Hussain Haqqani and host of others has irked the Sindhi people a lot, who wanted to see their elected representatives in Islamabad.

Punjab has almost slipped from the hands of PPP, courtesy to the Salman Taseer whose sole purpose in life is to smear the Sharif brothers. He has aggravated the situation in Punjab and that has backlashed. His dreams of making Lahore, a Larkana have been qaushed by the realities and now he is doing blunders upon blunders. The performance of various ministers like Raja Pervaiz Ashraf of power, Ahmad Mukhtar of Defense and others is as dismal as it could be.

One really wonders whether Zardar is really taking revenge from Pakistan?

  1. great information indeed

  2. According to me, PPP government should not disturb the Punjab government.

  3. Yes, I agree. PPP should not disturb the governance of Punjab, it should just dissolve the present setup being run like Ittifaq Fondry by its subsdiary a.k.a. Muslim League under the ‘munshi’ like supervision of Nawaz Sharif (the Proprietor); PPP should just replace them by a better Government.

AS far as Chaudhry Aitzaz and his bitterness are concerned; may be you should advise him to consume more ‘lassi’ to cool down. It seems whatever goes in his mouth becomes bitter and whatever come out of his mouth is bitter. Tough!

You seem to suggest that absence of “Naheed Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan and Safdar Abbasi and Mumtaz Bhutto” from Government “has irked the Sindhi people a lot, who wanted to see their elected representatives in Islamabad.” ——ARE THESE ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE? MY FOOT! —— Now, how much opium are you consuming these days?

You point, “Salman Taseer whose sole purpose in life is to smear the Sharif brothers.”

In all fairness, Governor Salaman Taseer is just highlighting the ’stuff’ the Sharif Brothers are so completely covered with and which can’t just be washed away so easily.

  4. Aftab reeks of Bughz and personal hatred towards Sharifs. Poor old man.

  5. ‘b’

  6. 1. People of Pakistan are in dream. Reality is that Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Benazir and their foloowers and wellwisher are corrupt and power hungry.
    2. The creators of Bangladesh Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Indira Gandhi, Sheikh Mujib and their families have one fate that they are killed by their countrymen.
    3. Allah is great and the judge of the universal.
