Beating the NRO Deadbody
By Tariq • Jan 24th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 2 CommentsWhen the prime minister has said that the Supreme Court’s decision would be implemented in letter and spirit and he has bowed in front of Supreme Court and the ministers have presented themselves to the court and even some of the property of President has been confiscated on the orders of Supreme Court, why then there is bad blood among the judiciary and the goverment and why some elements of the media are hell bent on wrapping up the setup?
On numerous occassions, the President Asif Ali Zardari has assured the leaders of allied parties, opposition, media, and even to the establishment that the government did not want confrontation with any institution, including the judiciary, adding implementation on the SC’s verdict on the NRO would be made according to the Constitution and law.
But even then the conspiracies are there. Just watch the programs of Dr. Shahid Masood and you would come to think that the government is going to end the next week and President Zardari is about to ram a dagger into Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and the establishment hates Zardari to an unlimited extent and the media anchors are angels coming right from the heavens.
Accountability of these anchorpersons should also be done by the government, if CJP is not taking suo moto notice.

Shahid Masood of GEO, Can only do ‘Zabaan ki Laffzi”. He went to work for Zardari due to a deal between him and Benazir but then he realize that the grapes are Sour and got his jib back. These anchor person are running there own CHu Chu Train withour realizing that they are damaging the Pak Kis Tan.
It is very important that the young generation must be politically conscious, they must know the national interest and they must have the power of analysis of news. To understand the role of media and how to set apart facts and rumors, it is necessary that one must know how media works, how it is financed and what factors influence it. Private media is mainly run by advertisements. The companies which give ads to these channels or newspapers decide according to the rating of any particular channel. Higher rating means higher viewer ship or readership and eventually higher rates of advertisements. As most of these private media groups are run on commercial basis so there are always chances of conflict between national interest and their vested interests. That’s why International intelligence agencies may give them incentives to mold the public opinion in a certain direction. These incentives are not given directly but in shape of ads of multinational companies. We know how anchors like Dr Shahid Masood and Hamid Mir have stimulated public against government on different issues like NRO. I totally agree with Tariq that accountability of these anchorpersons should also be done by the government, if CJP is not taking suo moto notice.
