Mush was playing a double role? I do not agree with that.

Mush has never played a role that US were not in knowledge of it. Every time Mush was getting a pat at his back from US; it was but for his deeds that US had desired and Mush has brought about those results. US was paying heftily for that. But this paid up business kept on inflicting deeper scars to the fabric of our some what a fragile society and chaos and desperation kept on setting its foot for a hold. Bit by bit this chaos has been turning into anarchy and now we find that entire country is fully engulfed in it.

Outwardly it looked that Mush was some how out smarting the US, CIA and Pentagon, playing a trick; sort of double cross to mint money; but we never thought--- that how can a proxy ever out smart his godfather?

We had also thought that having a set of big 'patakhas' (nuclear arsenals) in our kitty; it has made us some invincible country in this region but today we find that all that is still at our hand but we find ourselves insecure, right in our own houses. Don’t we see that our society is falling apart; disintegrating, loosing heart and is surrendering to the onslaught of even the titly bitly US implanted agents (i.e. mullahs with their lashkars and the TTP) infused and instilled into our ranks and files. With out the invasion of US soldiers that they need not to set their boots on our soil we are holding our hands-- up already?

US used Mush like a tissue paper. It is used and now is discarded and binned. Asif Ali Zardari is new tissue box implanted laterally to head this country and curry a favour for US. There is not an iota of doubt that (God forbid) he is destined to submit a formal final surrender of this country at US hands.

Mazari is intentionally ignoring the facts that this is all continuation of barbarism and desensitization of previous regime .Blaming all for this mess to only zardari and Obama is not fair .The dictator planted these seeds of inhumane attitude for people of Pakistan and his followers are just following his foot steps.Johann has pointed very valid point that how she is ignoring the influence of military and bureaucracy in such volatile policies and keep on targeting zardari and Co only.It is quite obvious to us that zardari's string are in hands of ISI/US who are enjoying this situation after giving him appropriate position in our system.

Dear Prof mazari,
Is your Army and Foreign service bureacrats ready to sacrifice their perks and boot out Americans as Vietnam did?
Your nation's ELITE'S DEPENDENCE ON AMERICANS ARE THE REAL PROBLEM

while i agree soundly with your analysis here Dr Mazari.. i think it's also crucial and integral to remember that the govt has inherited this glorious past from Mush. double playing the US, he's left us in the lurch to survive US backlash. and i think that such harsh criticism is not the PPP led govt's share... they too are struggling to comprehend and understand the issue and learning new ways to find out how to deal with this monster. and they need support, ideas and guidance.. critique too, but in a ratio of 3 of the latter to 1 of the former.

Sitting in the morning sun
I'll be sitting when the evening comes
Watching the ships roll in
And I watch 'em roll away again

Sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
I'm just sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time

I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the 'Frisco bay
'Cause I had nothin to live for
And look like nothing's gonna come my way

So I'm just...

Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same

Sittin here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home

Like always Dr Shirine is right on spot and has given us the true picture and a true insight of our predicaments which is result of our self inflicted wounds. The chaos and anarchy in the society is utterly baffling. The entire nation is seen confused, dumbfounded and suffering from a state of elusion.

Extremist are seen that they are creeping up in all sphere of our society; bent upon taking over our lives away from us.
Looks like it is getting too late, that this nation realises the consequences of this onslaught and comes forward and stand to it.

It reminds me of Ubaid ullah Aleem’s earnest supplications:

Ab tou firaak- e-subh main bujh ney lagee Hayat
Bar e Illah;-- kitney perhr reh gai hey raat ?

Jagay koi sitra subeh e yaqeen keh pher
Sar sey buland hou gia sael-e-tohamaat

Her teergee main tou ney uteri hey roshnee
Ab khud uter key aa, keh siah ter hey kainaat

Dr. Shireen M Mazari
You are great Fantastic, beautifully written article, take it to a higher defense level, what Jhonny has to do with it.
But where is AMNA GILANI? Bring her back on great public demand, Socially motivated news, views, entertainment all in one.
