Ban on Dances in Stage Dramas in Lahore
By Amna Gilani • Nov 21st, 2008 • Category: Politics • 55 CommentsIn a very commendable step, Mr. Justice Khurshid Anwar Bhindar of Lahore High Court has banned the dances in the stage dramas throughout Punjab, and has also directed the cable operators to not to show such stage dramas on the cable channels. This has been applauded throughout the country by the people, who are stunned at the obscenity in the name of stage dramas and theater.
Though this decision is late, but at least it’s there and the good thing is that the Punjab government is very enthusiastic to implement this decision, and the Punjab information secretary Orya Maqbool Jan has already directed the concerned authorities to take measures in this regard.
In the name of these stage dramas, the culture of Punjab has been tarnished very badly. Cheap and disgusting people abuse each other without any leashes and stoppage on the stage in the name of humor. They call names to the sisters, mothers and wives of each other, and whoever succeeds in insulting his mother, sister or wife more is considered the most talented and humor-invoking actor. Obscene “Jugat-bazi” is the name of the game. Then to attract more visitors, the stage drama producer sprinkle many promiscuous dances throughout the drama.
Lahore High Court has taken this decision in the right directions, now they should also implement it, because such bans have been failed in the past.

No problem for drama lovers of Lahore as our ex military dictator has arranged another options for lahoris who are as colorful as he is also.He has arranged all this in governor house and our respectable governor is best model of performing lahori art by himself.his family is also accompanying him and if their would be any shortage of art spicies, our ppp jiyalas are there to add taste to typical lahori culture.So dont worry drama lovers of Lahore as governor house gates are now open for all and you have all facilities there under rangers protection but it is kindly requested that dont go there when mussharf would be in Lahore as it is his right to enjoy first and alone in governor house .
Nazia, that is unfair. Mr. Taseer is without morals, no doubt about that and is pursuing the agenda of destabilizing the PML-N gov, but dragging his family into the mud is not really up to the ethical standards.
What will Nargis, Deedar and Khushbo do now? Back to Heera Mandi????
