Bakhtawar Bhutto to Enter Politics

By Shayan Khan • Jul 8th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 41 Comments

President Asif Ali Zardari has disclosed in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) that his daughter, Bakhtawar, who is studying in Scotland, would come in politics after completing her education to carry on the mission and cause of her mother and grandfather.

“Her and Bilawal’s active participation in politics will be the continuation of the valiant struggle that their mother and grandfather had waged,” a participant of the CEC session, held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday night under Zardari’s chairmanship, quoted the president as saying.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also attended the CEC meeting on special invitation. The participant, who is a senior PPP leader, told The News that Zardari talked about the political plan for his daughter when he spoke on the empowerment and involvement of women in different spheres of life.

The president, according to the source, said that the objective behind making his sister, Faryal Talpur, chief of the PPP’s women’s wing, was to give the women an important say in the party affairs.

“There are some people and families, which love to live for others contrary to the general lot,” he said while referring to his daughter’s future participation in politics. The participant said that at one stage Zardari stopped some speakers from talking about striking a balance between the powers of the president and the prime minister in the next constitutional amendment. They were of the view that the president should not be a mere showpiece.

Zardari told them that it was now for the 27-member parliamentary committee to suggest constitutional reforms, which would deal with all key issues, including the powers of the president and the prime minister, while implementing the Charter of Democracy (CoD).

He pointed out that just two parties — the PPP and the PML-N — were signatories to the CoD while all other parties, which have their representatives in the committee, have nothing to do with this document.

The president said that the will of the two parties could not be imposed on others if consensus constitutional reforms were to be introduced. “We can’t close the door on their proposals and should produce a consensus constitutional amendment bill taking all the parties along.” Responding to some participants’ complaints about the yawning gap between the PPP leadership and workers, the president said that the CEC has met for five times in the just past ten months.

day light murders and piling in grave yards of ghari khuda buksh

  4. Its amazing that on one end PPP is a people’s party but still ruling by one family…. fake politics.

  5. If Mr President can be President of Pakistan with High school why Bakhtawar needs to complete her studies?

  6. nazia,
don’t be pessimistic. Bakhtawar’s entry into politics just like her great mother, will encourage active participation of women in matters of state. This was the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma BB.

  13. Mr Arias,
What’s so unlawful about the Presidential ordinance?

Please try to behave. Show respect for His Excellency, the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan!

Quaid-e-Tehrik recently wrote to CJ and wisely advised him to go after bank defaulters who have embezzled millions of dollars of public money, rather than trying to increase his popularity by populist actions like regulating prices of petrol, diesel or vegetables or chicken sold in Jumma/Itwar Bazars. OK?

PPP rules and its up to PPP to raise or lower prices of commodities. Why should a grade 22 judicial officer called CJ interfere in matters of administration. Have the people elected the PPP or did they elect the CJ to govern our country??

  14. If CJ Sahab is so fond of doing governance, why doesn’t he resign his post, form his own party and contest the election?

Phir pata chalay gaa kay kaun kitnay paani may hay!

  15. By starting a confrontation with the elected government of the people of Pakistan, the CJ himself is inviting trouble. Doesn’t he realize how turbulent times our country is going through?

  16. Previously, we saw CJ release dangerous terrorists like Moulvi Abdul Aziz, and if this were not enough, he has now started assuming the role of ‘Finance Minister’, directing economic policies. Where else in the world a CJ proclaims himself as a Financial Policy Advisor?

  17. Arias
now improve you patience level as Hasan has started empting his fuel tanks on you.
Its better to hear and accept his all foolishness with bigger heart as he cant go beyond his planted soft ware programming. Each morning his tank is filled with statements of ISPR, PM and president sectariats and from foreign office net work.So I hope with this performance sooner he would be our new PTV MD.
we should pray for his success and this is only way of getting rid of his illogical concept on TPS.
God bless and save you from people’s vision.

  18. nazia,
its difficult to face truth, especially when one speaks it about your and arias’s dear CJ guy.

Instead of answering my questions, you have once again resorted to personal attacks.

PLEASE READ TPS’s COMMENT POLICY, before waging personal attacks through your comments

  19. Hassan
Cannot agree with you more on CJ’s role.
He has not learnt any lessons from the past and again started interfering into the state working.
He is trying to get public attention and become hero by his suo moto actions.
    Cheap publicity.!! Totally politicised CJ.

  20. Nazia,

hassan has a potential to rise
give hassan his due status , why just the PTV MD i think the way he lets off his hot air, he should be the next Fauzia wahab, raja perwaiz ashraf, or abdul sattar

zardari and altaf dada need hot air balloons like these people for their propaganda,

    Hassan,

    have a heart
what do you do as a profession?
how much do you earn per month?

i earn 13,000 per month …….do you know how difficult it is to make the ends meet?
do you know the cost of electricity? do you know the cost of food items? do you know how much a bag of atta costs?
with the petrol prices hiked again we are set to face yet a new round of inflation!

i by the Grace Of Allah manage to work it out, spending all and saving nothing
what about the lower class? who earn 5000-6000 per month? what about the daily wagers?
recently a man earning 5000 in faisalabad tried suicide when he had a power bill of 1600 !

what about the IDP? they are already buy essentials at a double prices, with direct increase in petrol prices they are sure to see the prices go up, as the transportation cost will increase and the profits of the middlemen involved

cant your poor/middle class lover alatf hussain see this?

how can he? he is in comforts of london ! how come he is not demanding His Excellency, the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to show a concern for the poor he loves so much ?

how come you dont see the misery of the common man? do you see only what altaf husain shows you?

why should i give a damm what Quaid-e-Therkey recently wrote to CJ and wisely advised him what ever, any amount recovered will not be spent on the people but pocketed by zardari !

a common man is more concerned about how he can manage to stay alive , damm your
Quaid-e-Therkey for his silence on this unfair price hike!

why is your Quaid-e-Therkey silent on the petrol price hike?
how come he is not demanding relief for the poor man?
the obvious reason is that your Quaid-e-Therkey was also getting his share from the proceeds

HASSAN ITS TIME TO WAKE UP AND SEE THE REALITY!

its not much to ask for but the sleeping pills Quaid-e-Therkey gave you have an overwhelming effect on you
