Baitullah Mehsud Creates New Trouble
By Brig. (r) Junaid Zaman • May 28th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 5 CommentsRunning government in Pakistan is not the bed of roses, and now Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani or the real ruler Asif Ali Zardary may know. Right when they were trying to strike a peace deal in the tribal areas by engaging the local Talibans in the dialogue, the head of the local Taliban Baitullah Mehsud has conceded that he sends militants in Afghanistan to fight United States.
Now United States has got a reasonable justification (as if she needed any justification) to attack the tribal areas of Pakistan. They would simply quote the admission of Baitullah Mehsud and would say that they were doing it in the retaliation. This would also give new ammo to the puppet Karzai administration. But it would create grave problems for the peace keeping efforts of the Pakistani officials.
This move by Baitullah Mehsud may bring him more recruits as nobody loves United States here, and the presence of United States in the neighbors and the presence of Pervez Musharraf, who is largely considered as the US man is the inspiration for many to join Baitullah Mehsud and the like minded groups. But if government keeps on having a process aimed at peace through dialogue, this trend could be dismissed and hopefully some sense could be blown into Baitullah Mehsud.

Great news! Congratulations! Now you can join him and destroy your motherland more systemetically I am really happy to see your wishes come true, nay God grant many many such warior to help you realize your dreams.
After looking in to the general trend and justification of war against terror ,I have an impression that like saddam who allowed entry of the US forces smoothly in to Iraq, baith Ullah mahsood seems to be working on the same agenda as US implanted man, striving to provide safe and justified entry of US forces in Pakistan tribal area. In other word he is the same spy as is usually placed as double agent. This is more likely because, the way he is being projected and is elevated to enhance its image is astonishing. This is beyond imagination that countries like USA and its allied could not curtail such elements that have no aerial or sea support along with quantitative majority in the form of regular field force. in military and gorilla warfare, candidates in the run of peak appointment have to go through, specialized strategically evaluated courses on and at the ground of international standards, but people like Osama or baitullah mahsood, if at all are of such caliber that they could stand to retaliate multiple advanced countries without such courses, then I must say that there is a time that any dick and Harry can retaliate such power.
I think Raza you got a point here because sometime i wonder why these people act in such a manner to favor the Americans but then i think their survival depends on such statements as well. In case of Ahmedinejad, we all know his statements do matches that of others and we can not dub him as double agent of US as well. With such strong statements and show of valor, these people attract the international attention.
I agree with you that the only purpose, US government and its media is projecting him is to achieve their desired goal of entering the tribal areas of Pakistan. That is the main reason Baithullah Masud was one of the contestant for the Time 100 Influential People. By the way the list of potential candidates included Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Sharif Khan Chaudhry.
Amnesty International Report:
The road to Guantánamo starts in Pakistan.
More than 85 percent of detainees unlawfully held at the US detention centre in Cuba were arrested by the Afghan Northern Alliance and in Pakistan at a time when rewards of up to US$5,000 were paid for every unidentified terror suspect handed over to the USA.
Bounty hunters – including police officers and local people – took advantage of this routine practice that facilitated illegal detention and enforced disappearance, almost unheard in Pakistan before the US-led “war on terror”. The Pakistani courts have failed to offer protection.
Hundreds of Pakistani and foreign nationals have been picked up in mass arrests in Pakistan since 2001, many have been “sold” to the USA as ‘terrorists’ simply on the word of their captor, and hundreds have been transferred to Guantánamo Bay, Bagram Airbase or secret detention centres run by the USA.
Some 300 people have since been released from Guantánamo Bay without charge. Many detainees remain unaccounted for, their fate and whereabouts unknown. They are at risk of torture and “rendition”.
Victims include terror suspects - men, women and children -, journalists who have reported on the “war on terror” and medical personnel who allegedly treated terror suspects.
Family members, lawyers and other activists are gathering in Islamabad, Pakistan (29 to 30 September) to exchange information and encourage action against Pakistan’s abuses in the “war on terror”.
The Government of Pakistan is directly responsible for the fate of many Guantánamo detainees and the “disappearance” of many others, and the suffering of their loved ones.
The Pakistani government must set up a central register of detainees and publish regular lists of all recognised places of detention so that in future nobody can be secretly imprisoned and face the risk of torture and other ill-treatment.
The meeting, hosted by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and Amnesty International, will be a first step for Pakistani politicians, media and civil society to stand up and hold the government to account for the abuses committed.
You can also make a difference. Spread the word.
O’ how one may wish that President Musharraf was really what he is accused of -
A REAL DICTATOR. and we could do our job ourselves, namely rid our dear motherland of all such elements with nefarious design against Pakistan.
