Babar Awan is no more a Doctor : Another Fake Degree
By Rohail Butt • Nov 13th, 2008 • Category: Politics • 7 CommentsIn 1997, when the lawyer Babar Awan was defending late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in the SGS reference before an accountability court comprising Justice Qayyum and Justice Najmul Hasan, he suddenly started writing “Dr.” before his name, and on inquiry from the media, he so proudly presented his PhD degree, which he obtained through a distance learning program from the University of Monticello, after paying a hefty sum in fee.
Like many other international students, Dr. Babar Awan also thought that by paying some dollars and by spending some time while enrolling through a distance, he would become a doctor, a rare specie in Pakistan back in 1997. He did become a doctor, but from an unaccredited university, which existed on paper.
In April 2000, Monticello University operator Leslie Snell was found guilty in Hawaii and Kansas of issuing invalid degrees without state authority and was fined in excess of $1.7 million. The organisation was ordered to refund tuition to all the students.
Now let’s see whether Babar Awan carries on writing “Dr.” with his name or not.

I still dont understand that what happens if he would be a real doctor.Neither he can reduce his hypocrisy level nor he would stop praising zardari like people for gaining benefits in govt.Our major cities are full of such fake doctors who try to impress the people thru their fake credentials but their actions are actually their credentials and we have to deeply look through it.How he changed his stance on CJP issue for pleasing NRO president is obvious to all.He is one of witness of Bhutto murder but he never bothered to raise the issue of investigation of daylight murder and focus all his typical wailing to please zardari and group.How he made dirty games in Kurd elections is obvious to all lawyers movement.So this fake degree can be good omen for lawyer’s community who were shunned on seeing his biased attitude toward kurd and Ch Iftikhar.This way they can disgrace him in better way.Nature is best judge so we have to wait and see for real justice.
He is a real doctor. Doctor of lies. Doctor of hypocricy, Doctor of cheating.
Dr. Babar Awan is a great personality. he is the most best or popular person in PPP.
let suppose he is not a doctor…..but he is million better than any other PHD holders of pakistan….i say that in pakistan he is a great leader in present political parties or politicians.
In USA, there is something called Accreditation Board for Educational Institutions, which certifies any university of college to have equivalent standards to award the degree. Secondly I, with a Ph.D from USA from a reputed university am not aware of any American University of fame which was awarding the online Ph.D’s as early as 1997-1998. Indeed anyone with some money can start a private corporation making it look like a university, but the fact is all educational institutions have websites which end in an extension (.edu). This diploma mill may have granted Babar AWAN a fake degree after receiving the money, whereas the courts in Hawaii has issued seize and desist order to the the owners of Montecello University. I am ashamed to know that a Pakistani who is otherwise teaching Quran, Sharia and Islamic law himself is full of deciept……….and for what he is doing all this???. Just for some wordly benefits. If Baabr Awan is so scholastic he should attend a real University and spend few years and see where he stands. Indeed he is a liar, and being liar is a sign of a hypocrite, which will be his best quality, and hypocrites will be the dwellers of hell as per Quran.
Shame on such people who sell their belief, honesty to serve people like Zardari and alike.
I personally think …. may be i am wrong but the fake degree is not the matter and we have lot of persons available in the society with same chapters.
But, yes he is the person to whom people follow and adopt his speeches due to lack of knowledge and education …. i firmly say that this guy should not be allowed to speech on TV about Islam and Quran as he is not following the religion himself and its called MUNAFAQAT which is unbearable in ISLAM … i would say he should come on media to clear him as good and best person otherwise ….. he is fake fake fake ….
Babar Awan sab … you should come and clear your allegations and admit the truth with deep of heart … and we will appreciate you and your concerns. …. Take Care and Allah Hafiz.
