Baba Farid Gunj Shakar and Paradise Door
By Muskan Hina • Dec 14th, 2009 • Category: Features • 5 CommentsThe history of Indo-Pak subcontinent is incomplete without the mention of Muslims saints in different parts and if you visit any city or town of India or Pakistan, you would surely encounter some shrine of saint. There are some saints who are very famous among the people, and Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar is one of the leading ones.
Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar, a Muslim Sufi, is generally recognized as the first major poet of the Punjabi language [3] and is considered one of the pivotal saints of the Punjab region. Revered by Muslims and Hindus, he is also considered one of the fifteen Sikh Bhagats within Sikhism and his selected works form part of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh sacred scripture. Bābā Farīd’s descendants, also known as Fareedi, Fareedies and Faridy, mostly carry the name Fārūqī, can be found in Pakistan, India and the diaspora.
I am not getting into the discussion of grave worshipping, or Urs or things like that. But what I am wondering about is the mention of “Bahishti Darwaza” (i.e. Paradise Door). What that implies? This door is present at the shrine of Baba Farid, and gets opened every year at his Urs and people literally fight to get through it. Does that mean that who passes through this door goes to Paradise? Sounds like that.
Isn’t that Shirk?

No its not the Shirk. Shirk do not belong to any object or any personality. Shirk is also not belong to far and near. Shirk belong to Aqeedah. If a person consider the Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar as God then no doubt it is a Shirk but if he is considering Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar as Auliya Allah and from his waseela he is making dua then it is not the Shirk. The person offer Fatiha visit the Shrine of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar and pass the Bahishti Darwaza every year on his urs. This is not the shirk. Consult the ulemae karam for correct knowledge of islam and visit the website http://www.tafseerequran.com// for “Shirk ki haqeeqat”;
This goes along with what is called bidaa (innovation, and not from the Quran or the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him).
Ghulam Sahib,
Do u know the meaning of shirk? It means you are sharing the qualities and attributes of Allah with someone. And this is what exactly happening here.
People are so much devoted tothese so called AuliaAllah that they actually forgets Allah. I went to a mosque a few months back.The imam was just talking about the karshimat and kahaniyan of these aulia and he did not take even a word for Allah or Mohammad (SAW) and the people were just overwhelmed with his speech without giving it a swcond thought that how this imam is playng with the basic essence of Islam i.e AQEEDAH TAUHID.
How one can believe that Mr. Ali Hajeveri has made a hindu boy alive by his karishma
why do we need other people’s endorsement on these problems ? why can we ask this question to ourselves ? or do you need a mulla to tell you whats written in Quran ?
All those people who believe that this wooden door will save them from punishments of their sins are certainly mistaken. However the door is at the feetside of the grave which may mean that if follower lead their life on the path and in direction followed by baba sahib than they can be confident of Allah’s forgiveness. The day of opening of bahishti darwaza has got nothing to do with its any semblance with paradise itself but the day can be start of a new life …a life without any sins and total purity…….depends on individual himself ( he may promise a cleaner life here or can make his own home enterance as bahishti darwaza.
