Times of India Front Page - Aman ki Asha, originally uploaded by Bombaylives.

Aman ki Asha a great start for 2010.

Indo-Pak peace initiative by Times of India and Jang Group.

Hope this Track II diplomacy bring people together gives us the much delayed peace dividend in 2010.

I think this is great start by the Old lady of Boribunder and Jang, It surely needs some courage and guts to do something which can surely piss off many people including Right Wing & Religious parties on both sides.

More power to Times & Jang !!

  1. Hello Mr. Mansoori,

First of all apologies for that stupid channel’s video(link that u added).
Even we Indians don’t take this channel seriously, so kindly don’t bother about it.
As of TV serials n other art forms are concerned , they are for pleasure and shouldn’t be disregarded.
And by no means should we talk about not letting people follow their own desires, whatever they maybe. So if people from Pakistan want to follow certain Indian culture, please let them do so. it should be a free-will nation after all.(like ours :) )
And there was no need for you to flaunt your arms and military base! We already believe that ur nation is a very powerful one. (but with that i ll also mention that never give yourself the luxury of even thinking, that with whatever stuff u mentioned, u can ever, I ll repeat….. EVER, beat my nation. )
And we dont form opinions of people of some other country, my country doesnt need sympathy of any other countrymen, neither do we crave for it, so please shed off that notion from your mind.
You also mentioned something about STUPID documentaries n all ! Humne toh nai kaha ki dekho humari movies ko. Ab hum toh hain hi stupids, kya karen! Waise aapke yahaan ek movie bani thi “Khuda ke liye”, nice movie, I liked a lot! Thanks for releasing it in India as well. Waiting for more such INTELLIGENT pakistani movies.

Try to appreciate good things happening between two nations!

  2. Aman ki Asha is the best initiative to come out of the sub-continent for decades. I think people should see the “glass half full”, and promote the good aspects of both countries and learn to turn a blind eye on the shortcomings for the time being. Both Countries need to draw up a roadmap and work towards a “subcontinent union” on similar basis as the European Union.
Only give and take on both sides can bring about a lasting peace which in turn can bring prosperity to the ordinary people of the subcontinent. The iniative launched by Times of India and Jang Group of Pakistan will no doubt one day become an historic declaration, and one hopes that all can carry the feeling of mutual respect through the hard moments, when it is some politically beneficial and so easy to point the finger across the border.
Just as the first mission to the moon was a giant step for mankind, Aman ki Asha is no less a giant step for the people of both India and Pakistan.

  3. Hi Adnan,

I have more faith and trust in the people of Pakistan and India than Governments in both countries, I’m ready to support an initiative that is centered around people rather than politicians.

It’s time people gave peace a chance.

    peace and happy new year,

    satish

  4. assalam u alaikum and hi to all out there.
well as a pakistani honestly i never liked double policies by indian governments and of course from our side too. when i think of the people who have relatives on both sides of the border it obviously comes to my mind that there should be an easier way between both countries for those people. and people like us i love all those places in india which brings us back to the brighter history of this continent. i think its a good initiative but not enough. we have much bigger wounds first those things are needed to be settled down then gradually all this kind of forums could be effective. but i pay my thanks to jang group and times of india that they have taken very good initiative. may God help us in promoting peace.

  5. Nice effort but it will fail miserably due to a number of reasons.

  6. Well, all the bad blood and acrimony comes when you see the people and issues of Sub Continent through the prism of religion and that is true on either side of the border. Well Aman Ki Asha (AKA) by Jung/ Geo Group and TOI is really a giant and very very courageous step in such a polarized environment dominated by security establishment and conservatives. But me being a realist and a qualified optimist believe that peace has to come one day and why not that should happen in our life time. Solutions of issues like Kashmir can also come through AKA as is rightly said by Mir Waiz Omer Farooq. Such sane voices need to be courted.

AKA has a very ardous journey laced with pitfalls and near-impossible roadblocks to negotiate. I really wish them good luck and remind them of Shakespeare’s famous proverb, “we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends” and Dr Martin Luther King “we will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people”. AKA is for the good people to show their grit and come out of their prevailing immoral silence. Warmongerers, conservatives, firebreathing religious zealots etc are out their for last 62 years and remember their will be no let up in future as well. It is the time for the good people to turn the page and tell the people of Sub Continent that what we have in common is more important that what we do not. Our people deserve education, health care, peace and a decent life than all that we have been getting in last 62 years.

At the end i would just request all those who support Aman Ki Asha is not to get discuraged by people like Adnan Arshad Mansoori etc as such individuals from either side of the border have been taught and conditioned to believe in such hateful theories and they would continue to do so. Our job is to continue our good work and create a Peace Constiutency of our own. Good luck Jung/ Geo Group and TOI.
    Salman Haider, Mirpur AK

  7. Brother Salman Haider u say:

“Our job is to continue our good work and create a Peace Constiutency of our own”

    Absolutely.
i feel really encouraged by your words.

    Yours Faithfully
    Indian Friend

  8. The dream for Aman between India and Pakistan will certainly come true. It is upon us to enjoy fruits of friendship and establish good ties for future generations or leave this job for our children. They will curse upon us. We need to take the events and history objectively and should not restrict our minds to malicious propanganda perpetuating since 60 years. We should shun the thinking that to be good and patriot Indian enemity with Pakistan is necessary and for patriot Pakistani hostality with India is national requirement. Hostality between these two countries is harmful for both and beneficial for our wicked colonial master of past and present.

  9. aman ke asha aik akhri sahara hai indo-pak ke lya .ab bhe na samjho ge tau metjaugay ai hindutanwalo.ao milka jalani pyar ke deep au milkar gain pyar ke geet. juda karahi hai hameen ko jo hamse wodeewar milkar girangay aikdin.ye he apni asha yehi apona maqsad aman ke phreray uraingay ak din.

  10. Salman i agree with eveything u had to say.You will do great in brokering peace btwn India and Pakistan. If you are a realist u will agree the problem btwn both countries is Kashmir. Dosent look like India will give away Kashmir. Kashmir has a predominant muslim majority so it should acceed into Pakistan. The wishes of Kashmiri population want to be a part of Pakistan since majority of the population is muslim.Earlier there were pandits who lived in the valley but even they understood its not thier home and have left the valley honurabely. So India must leave its occupation of Kashmir and give it to Pakistan and then we will have aman which will be long lasting.

If India can understand this then there should be no problem. But India is a villian here who does not need peace in this region. India has to understand if it has to stop bomb blasts within its country it has to stop occupation of Kashmir. If India has to stop naxalist, maoist moments within its country it has to give up control of Kashmir. The repurcussions of Kashmir occupation will be continued and will be felt by common citizens of India with repeated bomb blasts and a Mumbai seige kind of episode. Pakistan has always supported peace but not with the current situation.

  11. Well, its a good start but i think the requirements for getting an Indian Visa are more complex in the sense they have asked for U.S passport. It means that an ordinary person or teenager wishing to travel outside Pakistan at a low cost will have to get a U.S Visa, that’s not a fair deal sir. Don’t you think so. Consider this & try to make your visa policies more better & more affordable.
    Thankyou

  12. Hi am Biniamine,
i liked the idea of Aman between India and Pakistan. i wish to travell through India from Kania Kumari to Amarutser and Pakistan from Lahore to Kheyber and fromthere to Karachi holding the flag Aman Ke Asha. i would try to get a vissa for India Since i am a Pakistani i do not know what could be the problems on the way, but i will try my best to be a part of this compaign.
