If China wants to become a superpower, it will have to comply with international Human Rights Charter and abolish death penalty and look after mentally ill people.Western democracies do not kill mentally ill or drug dealers.Even mentally ill killers are detained and treated in hospitals in jails.

Akmal Shaikh was a sick man, who did not know what he was doing in China.Stephen Fry the famous British actor also suffers from mild form of Bipolar disorder and he has campaigned for Akmal Saikh.
May Akmal’s death shake people and governments out of their ‘deep sleep’ on issues of mental health anf human rights.

Hi guys,
Every other day Saudi arabia executes with sword illeterate Pakistanies and Indians who do crimes .But nobody bothers but this drug carrier suddenly becomes important for clever British because of his Muslim name and childish Pakistanies fall for this trap. Grow up guys.

i for one support the Chinese actions, only if we would implement strikers punishments for criminals here in Pakistan, the place would be much better.

Chinese laws are very strongly implemented in China.For implementing their laws relating drugs, having second baby, keeping fire arms are considered one of serious offenses and they even never spared their own citizens in this regard.
So this man having dual nationality was being proved for last 3 years as mentally sick through British govt but couldnt satisfy Chinese legal system.
So no way to discuss.This case iwas all put up by UK govt as our govt has no courage to raise such issues due to weak bilateral relations even with friendly countries like Saudia and far east countries where coming with drugs means to face the death as only choice.

Rest In Peace Akmal Saikh, you were in a cruel world. The issue is China a ’superpower’ sentencing a mentally ill person to death after a 30 minutes trial.If Akmal Saikh was a white man these sly Chinese would be kissing his feet and UK government would have done something earlier,not last minute.The evil Chinese are not ’superpower’ they are rats supposed friends of Pakistan.

It is a sad news but apart from that he was not carrying choaclate but heroin.Any person involved in drug crime should be punished for crime prevention.He was Pakistani initially but now he was British now and Prime minister Gordon Brown himlsef requested to china to re-consider death penalty of Mr Sheikh.Now there is a strong anger in Britain over sheikh’s execution and it may also damage the relationships with china. But there is another message for our government that British government how much value and care their citizens regardless of whether they were born in UK or not.But there is no value of anyone in Pakistan.Hundreds of people have been died within last few months in suicide bombimg but there is no effect on government.
