After Swat, Dir is in Danger
By Ali Yar Khan • Apr 3rd, 2009 • Category: Politics • 2 CommentsDistrict Dir’s lower area is adjacent to the Swat valley which has drawn world attention as the Nizam-adl regulation has been issued in the area though the president of Pakistan hasn’t approved it yet. A fragile and ominous peace hobbles in the Swat, while the militants lurk on the sidelines.
As situation in Swat remains alarming, the Dir area is now feeling the Swati Taliban impact. Five people died when Police and Taliban collided with each other. The police had been attempting to rescue a bank officer kidnapped by the militants. The district police officer and a former nazim were among those killed. All the chances are that the bank officer has been killed.
When the things were burning in Swat, Taliban also tried to “conquer” Dir, but they were met by stiff resistant and the locals of area struggled hard to keep them away. As the scope of Taliban is under different spectrum in the Swat, it seems that they are eyeing the Dir. It’s time that federal government and the NWFP government stop Dir falling to the Taliban as Swat fell.

Ali,
They are not in a position to do that. They will again send the army to control Taliban, but the people are not even motivated to fight them, as they think that they are fellow Pakistanis’ whom they are fighting with. But the point is, true there might be a certain number of people who will be Pakistanis’, but they are fighting against there own nation and any person who is fighting against his nation is not person whom you should not show love. He is enemy of the nation and needs to be handled that way.
My dear Ali Yar Khan,
The political situation in Pakistan today is like THE TRIANGULAR LOVE STORY between Government / Army-ISI / Taliban. Nobody understands of who is supporting whom or who is uprooting whom. The democratic government claims that they are controlling the army but it looks that army is controlling the government. Army-ISI claims that they are eliminating the talibans but some believe that talibans are getting help from the pakistani army without which taliban cannot get arms and weapons. Pakistan has failed to establish the object, the aim.
