A Global Fatwa Clearing House ?

One of the chief differences between the Sunni and Shia sects of Islam is that the Sunnis have no hierarchy of Ayatollahs who issue Fatwas (religious decrees) to which their followers adhere. In Sunni Islam, a qualified religious person (a Mufti) or other equally learned scholar might issue a fatwa; however it is up to individual Muslims to follow or ignore it. That is one reason why some scholars call a person who indulges in suicide attacks a shaheed (martyr), while others condemn those acts as inherently contradictory to the essence of Islam.
What about the concept of Jihad? A number of foreign insurgents who were arrested in Iraq earlier or Taliban engaged in similar excursions in Afghanistan, they all say that they are following Fatwas that depicted their participation against the U.S. occupation as a conduct of Jihad. There is a similar absence of any agreement among Muslim scholars on this matter.
As one dispatch from Muslim world entitled, “Fatwa Chaos in Sunni Islam,” in its Open Source states: “Fatwa chaos may lead to confusion among Sunni followers over which fatwa, or any other prescribed course of action, to follow.” In Pakistan some well known groups like Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are found to be abetting the enemies for their personal perks are carrying out the subversive activities under the cover of declaring a chaotic Jihad in the name of establishing a self styled sharia laws but knowing them to be such, they have not been declared traitors; even their ever increasing acts of savagery and killing of innocent Muslims are so glaring.
One suggestion that often pops up in Western circles is that some sort of central religious authority is required for interpretations that are followed by Sunni Muslims all over the world. However, wishing for such a clearing house is akin to wishing for a Sunni version of a Pope. We all know that is not going to happen.
And waves of chaotic storms of anarchy and mayhem in Islamic world remain ragging as ever.

Dear Khokar,
Yesterday a Pakistani Mullah declared that women cannot ask for divorce while an Indian Islamic court declared a Muslim woman can ask for divorce as marriage is a contract in Islam and if the contract is broken, she also has equal right.
Two days back i saw a Muslim cleric in India forbidding in his weekly coloumn that Muslims must not die their hair black!!!Another one said a Muslim woman must not wear nail polish.
What i find funny is that same maulvies and socalled Muslim scholars will not say anything about removal of clitoris in Muslim woman carried out in some arab countries even today , or digging out body of Pir Samiullah in SWAT and butcherring it.

Dear Incrdible Indian,
Since Islamic society in the beginning had inherited the old customs of Jahillaya from Judaic and Pagan tribes, where wealth and number of women possessed by men, used to be the status symbol of power and haughtiness. Women were treated like animals and some second class identities. Grooming and nurturing of newly inducted believers was to be carried out step by step to teach them the civility and so some times they were strictly admonished:
Quran [4:19] O ye who believe! It is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will, nor should you detain them wrongfully that you may take away part of that which you have given them, except that they be guilty of a flagrant impropriety, and consort with them in kindness, and if you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing wherein Allah has placed much good.’
Where as Jahilliya can be described as that a society which is deprived of knowledge, civility and education; they tend to stick to their old primitive rut of customs, their tradition and culture.
The Taliban clan in Afghanistan and other along Pak- Afghan border are the decedents of old Judaic. Owing to the limitation of accessibility offered by the terrain that they earlier settled their when tribes escaped from Palestine in some 300 BC. There has been a limited progress in the field of their grooming.
Even on the dawn of Islam they did not leave their old Judaic traditions and some of the brutal customs found in their society have got nothing to do with the divinely light and enlightenment of Islamic teachings.
It is pity that same old situation persists even today. Islam is pusher on the back burner and their own customs and tradition are spitting fire named as terrorism that we see in our media. This world has to go long way to be brought in order. Challenges are much bigger than the efforts being put in to meet the requirements. It is seen void of any comprehension to evaluate the subject matter put in front which is in dire need of thorough education and grooming.
