A friend, ally, partner, temporary lifeline or what?

By Afshain Afzal • Jul 28th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

There are many questions which need their answers but apparently, no one is sure about them. While reading a leading newspaper, I came across similar question; Is America our friend, our ally, our partner, our temporary lifeline or what? One wonders why we are not satisfied with defining our relation with America as “good cordial relations” and want further explanation. Since the categories mentioned above does not adjust anywhere in our relationship, so even for the sake of discussion it would be sheer wastage of time as by now everyone is quite clear that our relation is that of a parasite and the host. We need not to forget the fact that some parasites are useful in certain ways for their hosts. What anybody can expect from an investor or a trader who is bent upon dictating his term and conditions without the consent of the other party, and wish to turn it into a long lasting agreement.

Generally speaking, US-Pak relations is an amalgam of unfavorable conditions, self created fears, threats and blackmailing coupled with aid to support western strategy in order to make it a success story. If we recall, there were media reports that Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Reza Gillani, in his recent statement, misspoke and confused the UN with the US when he reportedly said that Pakistan would abide by US sanctions against Iran. Interestingly, what ever the case may be, whether Prime Minister misspoke or he really meant it, the fact cannot be denied that in the prevailing atmosphere there is hardly any difference between US and UN. It is an irony that US often uses UN as its pet dog in converting its illegitimate strategies and actions into legitimate ones. To achieve this objective, either US gets resolution passed in its favour by lobbying through blackmailed member countries or by delaying its share of funding to UN. At occasions, US even does not bother at all to seek UN’s prior permission for an action against any member state. Thus, it does not matter much if Pakistani Prime Minister said so or have not said so.

As far as US sanctions against Iran are concerned, Islamabad cannot accept any unilateral action by any country. However, being the member of United Nations, Pakistan has always honoured United Nations Security Council Resolutions and would be hounouring them in the future too. It need to be cleared here that people of Pakistan holds Iran as a brother and a friend and would go to any extant to offer humanitarian help in the hour of need.  So as far as relations with Tehran are concerned, it is the western and Israeli propaganda that has so far kept many among us apart. It is pertinent to mention here that neither Pakistan nor Iran have any outstanding issue nor territorial depute. Rest all is suspicion created by our common enemies.

Some media persons intentionally use irritating phrases like “Iran is a Shia country in a Sunni sea.” in order to misguide readers and audience. The fact cannot be denied that Pakistan along with many other countries of the world considers Iran as an Islamic country and not a Shia country.  Using such instigating phrases only serves the interests of enemies of Pakistan, Iran and rest of Islamic world. One wonders how many of us have ever used the name of any western country and described it as a Catholic country in the sea of Protestants and vice versa. Interestingly, despite a powerful propaganda campaign by the western nations and some of their puppet countries, to create hatred between Islamabad and Tehran, still there are good number of leaders in both the countries who understand every move of the their rivals and believe in Islamic brotherhood. Due to the same reasons Pakistan and Iran still enjoy brotherly relations and ignore factious propaganda by a small anti state lobby in their countries.

A common propaganda that is circulating in the media to achieve hidden objectives that hawks in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are suspicious of Islamabad that it is tools of Americans and supports Jundullah group . It is a baseless allegation and there is no truth in it. Had this been the case, Islamabad would have not helped Tehran in identifying certain outlaws. Iran is facing internal security problems due to western and Indian conspiracies and it has nothing to do with Balochs or Pakistan.  Tehran needs to further investigate in order to differentiate between illegal traders, smugglers and anti-Iran terrorists. In the mist of strong propaganda it is difficult to differentiate between good and evil but time is going to reveal the mystery behind Abdul Malek Rigi and other Baloch leaders. One thing Tehran must keep in mind that there is a lot of difference between Abdul Malek Rigi and Dalia Lama, who openly hold meetings with US top officials. However, certain elements, for their own vested interests, want Iran to stay at distance from Pakistan, in order to internationally isolate Tehran. It is a high time that Pakistan and Iran must facilitate each other and develop the centuries old relation that is being intentionally being buried by our common enemies under the mist of suspicions and mistrust.

  1. Ms. Afshain whether you believe me or not: With friends like the US, Pakistan doesn’t need enemies & kindly mark my words As & When America exit from this region — our beloved Pakistan shall remain once again Peaceful with full of its required tranquility as this was earlier existing.

If you may not believe so like others who are very much present at this forum they must read the following Guardian Articles along with other various relevant established undeniable historical facts - one more important object — when I say America its entirely by mean American Government Officials who are Just Toys in the hands of American Jewish Lobby cum Freemasons & Neocons religiously followers of New World Order otherwise many American are still mine friend, usually I found them very nice, innocent & loving people.

  2. Yet another article of denial that might satisfy some Pakistanis but falls on deaf ears of World opnion. Our generals are not politicians, our politicians have failed miserably in spite of the claim that they never have been given chance or free hand for that matter, our media is playing a beaten trumpet, we as a nation have failed. So, we have only one messsage for masses of Pakistan - conspiracy theory against our country. Let me tell it loud and clear, this conspiracy theory, so much propagated in print and electronic media, would not change the scnerio a bit. We are standing on a wrong footing. We have been made parasite by erasing industries - the essential ingredient for being self-sufficient and acquiring a status of a country having their own voice.

Pakistan’s past is tainted with international crimes. Musharraf, the then President of Pakistan, confessed on TV that Centrifuges and their technology was transferred to Iran, North Korea and with aborted attempt to Libya - “we did not do it, AQK did the same”. Iran’s reply is they didn’t have the technology and centrifuges for free, they paid quite heavy dough for the same. Where has those money gone? North Korea is wise enough to remain silent - miranda.

And we expect friendship. My dear friend, there is no such thing like “friendship” in international relations. USA has acute unavoidable interests in this region because of War against Terrorism. So they are throwing dollars and we are accepting and following their toe line - no more no less.
