A Battle of the Bands?

By Maham Javed • Jan 31st, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 117 Comments

Sitting alone in the dark waiting for electricity to come, my mind turned towards one of the most pressing problems on hand (at least as far as I’m concerned it is worth giving a thought to!). For a month or so, there has been a big hub-bub about the Mumbai attacks. And it seems a trifle bit stupid to me that I-will-never-rest-until-I-have-sent-Pakistan-to-the-gallows India admit defeat.

Mr. Mukherjee’s atrocious words resound in my head and appear to be a source of pondering for anyone who deems India to have quieted down.

“Are they nonstate actors coming from heaven, or are they coming from a different planet?” Mr. Mukherjee asked. “Nonstate actors are operating from a particular country. What we are most respectfully submitting, suggesting to the government of Pakistan: Please act. Mere expression of intention is not adequate.”

Nonstate actors are operating from a ‘particular country’. Uncannily, the way India’s representatives put all the blame on Pakistan in such a sneaky way.

“There is a lot of pressure to do something meaningful and see Pakistan take long-term irreversible steps, but the Indian government has up to this point been very cautious,” said Xenia Dormandy, a former Bush administration official who is now a senior associate at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

If Pakistan does not go further, she added, India would be likely to act with a heavier hand. “Whether it is as forward leaning as bombing camps in Jammu and Kashmir, I don’t know,” she said. “I think you will see India take some stronger steps in the next two, three weeks.”

What Zardari and his team of hooligans are waiting for, I fail to grasp. India and her ally, America has been so graciously straightforward in conveying to Pakistan that in no terms at all they are going to sit back and watch the show unroll. It is time for action. Our enemies are trickling down across the continent as well as around the Arabian Sea to submerge together in what I can only term as ‘a battle of the bands’.

This time, no China or anyone for that matter is going to help Pakistan. We are too busy looking for external help that we have forgotten that inside we are so weak; plagued by racialism and divided into sects and having our own people against us by butchering them on the demands of America.

The massive destruction in Mumbai accounts to the fact that India is not going to back down whatsoever nor is she going to rest until she has the ‘criminals a.k.a Pakistanis’ brought to justice. 62 years of separation should have taught us about the cunningness of India but we have forgotten what she long since has wanted in revenge.

This has been a chance of opportunity for India, one that she isn’t going to let go no matter what the press says. Obama or no Obama, she is going to go forward; with or without him. And I ask myself this: in all the spewing of ‘Pakistan should catch the criminals’ the aftermath does seem sort of melodramatic. And I say, no; India is conniving something truly great: one that is going to be spellbinding and will capture Pakistan in her net.

The turn of events have led to one question: War or no war?  And, I have a feeling it is going to build up to war. Now the question is this: Is Pakistan going to sit back on her heels and see her destruction brought to action or is she going to do something about it?

With Zardari? Not likely!

  1. In the LAST STANZA of this article author comes to the CONCLUSION:

“”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"‘The turn of events have led to one question: War or no war? And, I have a feeling it is going to build up to war. Author wanna say WAR IS IMMINENT. Same old paki conclusion.Completely idiotic.

Any SANE man knows there is NO CHANCE of any war.
There are DOZENS OF DIPLOMATIC steps that can be taken by India which India HAS NOT DONE.

  2. Whats wrong with this statement?????

    Pranab Mukherjee Asks:

“”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”‘“Are they nonstate actors coming from heaven, or are they coming from a different planet?” Mr. Mukherjee asked. “Nonstate actors are operating from a particular country. Pakistan admitted Ajmal Kasab is a Pakistani.

Therefore BRILLIANT PRANAB was SPOT ON.

The above statement is infact VERY POLITE in comparison with the outrage in India over the mumbai attack.

  3. Incredible Indian

    Few thoughts:-

1> In the last 18 years after opening of Indian Economy, india has seen MASSIVE INDUSTRIALIZATION. Millions of indian with their sweat and tears helped india reach this Position.
India is one of the NIC(newly industrialized country)countries. With the second fastest growing economy in the world . Therefore any war with any country WILL HARM INDIA MORE.

2> India’s number one regional competitor is china. India considers China as its BIGGEST MILITARY THREAT. Therefore, any war between india and Pak will actually make the China STRONGER and china may try some “adventurism” too.

@@@ 3> MOST IMPORTANTLY india is a very VITAL component in the global supply chain .
Therefore any war, particularly during ECONOMIC RECESSION time is ILLOGICAL AND FOOLISH.

    Conclusion:

    NO POSSIBILITY OF ANY WAR.

  4. Noone knows if war is imminet or not. It is just an opinion based on how the events turn out.
As for ‘the outrage in India’ no matter what India says, there were NO PAKISTANIS involved. India is just too prejudiced about Pakistan. Every calamity that strikes India has a relation with Pakistan according to India!
Pakistan is not that free that she keeps plotting against India. History proves that the Indians have always stirred up trouble for themselves and blamed everything on Pakistan. We, are not that naive!
As for Pakistan admitting Ajmal Kasab as a Pakistani; who says that what the government says is what the nation says? Our leaders are not acting in the interest of the country but on demands of America.
Any sane person who followed the whole episode knows that Ajmal Kasab is an illusion. He doesn’t exist and if he does exist he has no connection whatsoever with Pakistan!

Maybe, the next time there is an earthquake in India they’ll find another ‘Ajmal Kasab a.k.a Pakistani’ to blame on. Oh yes, Pakistan was experimenting with a new nuclear bomb and somehow the explosion was so great as to cause an earthquake in India. Very tragic news. It will make the headlines, I’m sure. And India will moan and cry to anyone who is ready to listen to warped up tale!!

  5. Maham Javed SAYS:

“”"”"As for Pakistan admitting Ajmal Kasab as a Pakistani; who says that what the government says is what the nation says? Our leaders are not acting in the interest of the country but on demands of America.”"”"”

“”who says that what the government says is what the nation says?”"

Pakistan is a country of 160 million. Everyone can have their different opinions.
But the GOVERNMENT’S response is considered to be the OFFICIAL RESPONSE OF THAT COUNTRY. In this case Pakistan.

  6. Not when the nation disagrees!

I know, how agonizing it must be for THE INCREDIBLE INDIAN to see someone point a finger at his country. Incredible isnt it?

  7. First:

I have heard enough warrior stories of heroic daring.
Tell me how you crumble when you hit the wall,
the place you cannot go beyond by the strength of your own will.
What carries you to the other side of that wall,
to the fragile beauty of your own humanness?

(You know waht I am talking about!)

    Now:

Accepting or denying Kassab’s nationality / citizenship does not alter the fact that he is one of us, however we as a nation are not and may not be burdened by his alleged crime. Let the law take its course and let the truth speak for itself. His beliefs and his action should no be allowed to over rule our national interest, which must be a friendship with our neighbors. We must invest our meager resources on development of our people rather than war machinery. This sloganeering must stop.

  8. Mr. Maham Javed

    “”Not when the nation disagrees”"

Hahahahha……..pakistan has a HUGE ARMY OF CONSPIRACY theorists we all know that

  9. By the way, it will be worth spending our national wealth on ensuring that we have enough power generation and we must not sit in darkness and wait for electrcity to come back, so that kids can do their homewrok and factories may continue production, and hospitals can provide medical care. How would that be for an investment instead of preparing to go to war.

  10. Dear Aftab S. Alam,

    Spot on.

  11. First of all for your information, it is Miss Maham Javed!
Anyone can see, that a person who can’t even signify by a name that the person is a girl or a boy must have some serious correction to do, especially what information he has been fed to!!
As for terrosits! Hark, look whose talking!!
Conspiracies, plots, treacherous conniving schemings? It is a talent for which India is famous for!!

  12. Dear Aftab S. Alam,

    A request.

Plz write articles for the TPS.

    Regards.

  13. Dear Maham Javed,

    Muslim names are very CONFUSING.

    i am NOT a muslim.

    That’s why IGNORANT.

    Sorry for that.

  14. Who says we are going for war?
But, if the circumstances demand, you can’t expect us to sit back and wait for it to get over with!
We have a clean record. We have never attacked India for any reason. The wars of 1948,1965 etc have made it clear that it has always been India to take the lead! And if the time comes for a war, it will be India who attacks first!

  15. I must say, I second that request.
    Do please, write articles.

@ The Incredible Indian: Apology accepted.

  16. Miss Maham Javed,

i DONT blame you for your theories.

Bcoz u guys grow up with a UN-HEALTHY DOSE of India hatred.

Starting from SCHOOL through subjects like “Pakistan Studies”.

Its sad to see people like u.

  17. Maham Javed

    “”The Incredible Indian: Apology accepted”"

    Thanks.

i can give you DOZENS OF REASONS why A STABLE PAKISTAN is BETTER FOR INDIA.

  18. and indians are NO FOOLS.

  19. pompous egoes*

  20. I fully agree with Maham that this crisis is a window of opportunity for billion of people of this region to really transform themselves. But with leaders like Zardari and Mukherjee, that is a pipe dream.
