DO MORE Pakistan
By Farid Masood • Jan 7th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 9 CommentsWhatever the reason may be that Russian invasion in Afghanistan, it gave America a chance to have a combat with its rival far from its territory without sacrificing life of a single American soldier. She provided direct / indirect training / materials and allies made that cold war a religious war. USSR defeated and left the land of Afghans and broke into pieces later on.
9/11 was a security and intelligence failure on part of US of A. Many people tried their level best to prove it as a planned act, but it gave a US of A an opportunity to address the trained religious soldiers issue as part of new plans. It was now US of A’s term to invade Afghanistan to eliminate religious soldiers from the scene. Therefore, the design of was on terror introduced & implemented. Americans supported Taliban’s regime now became the sacrificial goat along with thousands of innocent citizens across Pakistan’s Western Border, since then stresses on Pakistan to ‘Do More’.
Observing the stressed Pakistan’s foreign Policies, India also took many chances to act directly or being an indirect path to pressurize Pakistan from its eastern border.
Mumbai was a complete intelligence and security failure on part of India. Learning from American’s 9/11 one cannot resist own-self to say that future may also prove if was a planned act on the framework adopted for 9/11. Now India is also chirping the same song ‘Do More’ Pakistan.
Difference between the two plans is that US of A got desirable results by invading Iraq & Afghanistan but India failed to achieve to desired extent. India needs another big game in near future.
In this scenario a big question arises, “Is Pakistan the only country left with the job description of ‘Do More’ or India has to ‘Do More’ to improve it relation with neighboring countries by leaving the hostile policies towards them, United Nation to ‘Do More’ to improve its declining status of being party to US of A and to probe killings of 0.7 million Iraqis, thousands of Palestinians, to enforce resolutions about Kashmir or US of A to ‘Do More’ to abandon support for Israeli terrorism.
We all have to ‘Do More’ on our part to make this globe a peaceful place to worth living and stop demanding others to ‘Do More.

@ Farid Masood
To put things into perspective, let us begin with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. All I will say is that the reason why the Soviets lost the Afghan war was not because of the weapon superiority of the Afghans. No. It would be patently erroneous to even assume that. The sanctuary for these Afghan mujahedeen was in Pakistan, which has now turned into a nasty problem for the rest of the world. The Soviets were never allowed to engage them all the way inside Pakistan. India is now facing the same predicament. And the reason for the escalated tension over the last few days is not just the Mumbai terrorist attacks. It is Pakistan’s repetitive insulting of the collective intelligence of the people of the international community. The terrorists came from Pakistan. Pakistan’s reply to this was that they are not Pakistan nationals. That does not mean anything. They came from Pakistan, and the infrastructure for launching these attacks is in Pakistan. State responsibility does not just arise from actively aiding an act. It also comes from passively allowing an act to take place. India has not once, and I repeat, not once blamed the Pakistan government for any complicity in the attacks. It has only blamed the Pakistan government for not doing enough to extinguish the terrorism apparatus which has been directed at India again and again and again and again and again over the past few decades. That means either a) Pakistan is not doing anything to curb terrorism, and has been paying lip service to dismantle terror networks there, b) Worse, Pakistan has lost control of large swathes of area in its territory and to terrorists c) Worst of all both option a) and b) combined. Pakistan cannot rely on the nuclear and jihadi card, which Musharraf has played ever so adeptly. It is time for this to end. And time for Pakistan to come out of denial. It is already a basket case, a rogue nation, and recently the Pakistani Prime Minister had gone on a begging mission to Saudi Arabia to request the withholding of the US$300 million dollars in arrears, which Pakistan owes for its oil imports (Source: Economist). A country which is not able to provide its citizens with energy and yet make billion dollar (also through loans, which apparently is against the concept of Islam!) purchases for weaponry targeted at indefensible human beings cannot be taken at face value. Pakistan has NO credibility whatsoever. And your essay, too, lacks a holistic introspection.

Farid,
Good article it talks about the pressure on Pakistan. But one thing when you are saying India to act friendly with its neighbors, they should also do that.
On every occasion India got ahead for friendship, there was a ploy from Pakistan. Like when Indian PM took a bus to Lahore, your army invaded us in Kargil, and then they say India crossed the border.
When people in Pakistan are saying that this terrorist is from Pakistan his parents are accepting it, then why is your govt. not acting against such people.
US was never friend of anybody without money. If you have money and resources, they will obey you otherwise they will use you for their benefit, like they used Pakistan for Soviet invasion in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has been a long time friend of US you have been pampered by US govt. lots of times, then why are you now shouting that US is bad.
Also if you read some articles written they have mentioned that Pakistan has been supported by Saudi and other Arab countries with money for jihadi’s. Pakistan has been doing this since its formation.
Think guys your army and ISI and govt are fooling you people. If you want those article give me your mail id’s on this blog and I will mail it to you.
@ Adi

great information indeed
Army and isi are the two sides of the same coin. American has always found it easy to handle dictatorship than democracy as it is easyto corrupt one. That is the curse of pakistan. Pakistan has to focus its energy in development rather than pushing it country to medival practices. It must try to imbibe moderate sufism rather than the islamic fundamentalism for its own development and sustenance.
You can verify what on an average india get an inward remittance of 45 billion usd and where for pakistan it is 5 billion usd. YOu can verify the source - central bank of both the countries.
This implies that the person who are leaving are no seeing anything positive for them to come back and stay, they either move to uae or to canada.
